| The purpose for the lower school athletic program is to allow students to try different sports, begin developing skills, to have fun playing with their classmates and to learn good sportsmanship. Academic restrictions are the prerogative of the parent. There is a fee to play each sport, which provides each participant with a uniform. The cost of each sport is identified on the sign-up form. Soccer Soccer is offered to all K4-5th grade students in the fall. The upper school soccer field is used for most practices and games. Basketball Basketball is for 6 year olds through 5th graders. The lower school and upper school gym is used for games and practices. The season begins in January and runs through the first of March. Baseball / Fast Pitch Softball K4-5th graders can play baseball in the spring. Baseball and softball are offered through the Northwoods Park Recreation Department (North Charleston). Students are placed on teams with their classmates, but compete with the Northwoods Recreation Department. T-Ball, Machine Pitch, Small Fry Dixie Youth as well as girl's softball is offered. Flag Football Flag Football is offered to all boys in grades 1st-5th. The upper school baseball and soccer fields are used for games. Volunteer Coaches Coaches are needed for each sport. Parents will be asked to volunteer their time to help. |
