A phonetic approach to reading is taught. Reading comprehension, oral and silent reading skills, along with vocabulary development, are stressed. Students have continuous access to our library and participate in the Accelerated Reader program through in-class and lab setting resources and computer technology. |

| English | |
English instruction centers on language development, grammar, spelling, and writing skills. Penmanship focuses on manuscript printing in the primary grades with the introduction of cursive writing in the second grade. |
| Social Studies, History, Geography | |
Students are introduced to communities at home and around the world. Map skills are used to introduce students to directions and the hierarchy of landmasses from continents down to cities. South Carolina history, United States history and world history give the student valuable lessons from the past. |
| Math | |
Introducing topics in easily understood segments, combined with continual review is the key to the Saxon approach. Required skills become automatic, leaving time to consider concepts at a more abstract level. |
| Science | |
Scientific process skills are highlighted as students explore the world around them and develop an appreciation for God's design and handiwork. Students observe, record, predict and explore the relationship of plants, animals, earth, space and matter. |
| Music | |
Music meets once a week for all lower school students. Students are taught vocal skills, creative expression, and performance by exploring musical concepts through songs, games, theory lessons and other creative classroom and media materials. |
| Physical Education | |

Students attend physical education class twice a week. Daily exercise, motor skill development and sportsmanship are a part of the physical education program. |
| Art | |
The art program is designed to guide students in basic techniques, elements, color, mediums and creative expression by exploring drawing and painting through direct participation. Art as a formal class meets once a week during the first semester for 1st-5th graders. Art is integrated into the curriculum for kindergarteners all year and for 1st-5th graders during the second semester. |
| Spanish | |
Exploring Spanish through songs, games and stories provides the 1st-5th graders exposure to a foreign language. Spanish meets during the second semester, once a week.
| Extra-curricular Activities | |
Every class averages four field trips a year. "Dress Up" days and special event days make for a well-rounded school year. Students routinely participate in a variety of South Carolina Independent School Association (SCISA) competitions such as the regional spelling bee, mathematics competition and science fair. |
